There is over 8,000 hectares of parkland managed by the City of Calgary, and the southwest quadrant boasts some of the best parks this city has to offer. Here's a quick guide to southwest Calgary parks:


  • Battalion Park: 3001 Signal Hill Dr. SW; features pathways, historical landmarks. 
  • Bridlewood Wetlands: 45 Bridlecreek Park SW; featuring pathways, glacier erratic, wetlands.
  • Clearwater Park: Clearwater Drive, north of Hwy. 8; secluded space on the Elbow River, teepees, tent and cook rooms. 
  • Edworthy Park: ‚Äč5050 Spruce Dr. SW; features pathways, picnic tables, fire pits, playgrounds and off-leash areas. 
  • Griffith Woods: Discovery Ridge Blvd. SW; pathways, trails, pond, wetland and sports fields. 
  • Lawrey Gardens: Cedar Crescent SW; features grassland, parkland and pathways. 
  • North Glenmore Park: 7305 Crowchild Tr. SW; picnic tables, fire pits, playgrounds and tennis. 
  • Sandy Beach: 4500 14A St. SW; picnic areas, fire pits, pathways, playgrounds and access to the river. 
  • South Glenmore Park: 90 Ave. & 24 St. SW; picnic tables, fire pits, spray park, tennis, polo, hiking and bike trails.
  • Stanley Park: 4011 1A St. SW; sports fields, playgrounds, pathways, picnic tables, fire pits, outdoor pool, access to Elbow River and lawn bowling. 
  • Strathcona Ravines: 888 Strathcona Dr. SW; features trails and pathways. 
  • Weaselhead Flats: 66 Ave. and 37 St. SW; hiking trails, wildlife and pathways.
