On June 20th, Calgarians band together for the second annual Neighbour Day celebration. The City of Calgary launched this city-wide initiative last year following the one-year anniversary of the devastating 2013 flood.
Neighbour Day is an opportunity for Calgarians to honour the same incredible resilience and community spirit that pulled our city together during the 2013 flood. Vibrant and strong communities, with good neighbours, are what make Calgary great. [City of Calgary]
There's a full list of community Neighbour Day parties on the City of Calgary website here, but here's the SW community events I found:
- Mission-Cliff Bungalow: this event is happening at the Cliff Bungalow-Mission Community Centre park, and will feature face painting, live music and a BBQ. Event runs from 1 to 5 pm, information online.
- Erlton: this event is happening at 2607 Erlton ST SW this Saturday and features: picnic, BBQ and games. The party will run from 10 am to 7 pm.
- Glamorgan: this event is happening at 4207 - 41 Avenue SW, and is a huge collaboration with St. Andrew's and Glamorgan School. There will be a pancake breakfast, bounce houses, lunch, "paint the pavement", live entertainment, dinner and a dance. This will take place from 8 am to 8 pm this Saturday.
If you know of another SW community Neighbour Day event that I missed, please let me know on Twitter.
