Today marks the start of "Emergency Preparedness Week", and the City of Calgary is hosting two upcoming open houses on what the City is doing to prepare for the potential of flooding this year.
The open houses will include members of the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA), Calgary Fire Department, Development and Buildings Department, Water Service and Water Resources, Calgary Police Service, Community and Neighbourhood Services and Flood Recovery Operations Centre. The City of Calgary's Expert Management Panel on River Flood Mitigation and members of the Government of Alberta will also be there.
Attendees will be able to ask questions and get information from the professionals there, and they will be a drop-in style with no formal presentations. There will be information tables setup so attendees can browse at their leisure.
Wednesday, May 7: from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, at the Ramsay Community Association Hall (1136 - 8 Street SE).
Thursday, May 15: 6 to 8 pm, at Foothills Academy (745 - 37 Street NW).
