Today (April 22) is Earth Day. It's a day to reflect on our ecological footprint, and hopefully opt to make some smarter and greener choices in our everyday lives.

Here are five easy ways to be a little greener:

Save energy

  • Switch from incandescent bulbs to LED
  • Use aerators on faucets and showers
  • Weatherstrip your windows and doors

Save water

  • Only run your washer/dishwasher with full loads
  • Opt for showers over baths
  • Don't run water when brushing teeth or washing dishes

Don't discard

  • Limit the trash amount: donate, reuse or recycle when you can
  • Dispose of electronics and chemicals responsibly

Heating and cooling

  • Be aware of your thermostat during seasonal changes
  • Use a fan over air conditioning

Eat local

  • Eat and buy local food
  • Eat and buy organic food when in season
